The AfriWomen recently embarked on sensitisation and awareness drive as the 2022 adult and non-formal education programme commences following the approval of the executive secretary of the Oyo State Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education (AANFE) Mr OlakunlehinAderemi Nathaniel.
Adebukola Oso, the founder and CEO of the AfriWomen made the disclosure while speaking to staff and beneficiaries of their centres.
Adebukola further pointed out that the purpose of the annual programme is to sensitise the community, as well as mobilise the target audience to benefit from the classes organised by the AfriWomen where facilitators teach adult learners reading and writing skills free-of-charge.
The AfriWomen has 8 centres across Ibadan Metropolis. The tuition-free programme is sponsored by the founder of the AfriWomen (an NGO) Adebukola Oso. She receives support from the Oyo State AANFE by way of some learning materials.
The sensitisation and mobilisation exercise for the 2022 programme started from Bodija Market, Akingbola to Oje and Molete Area of Ibadan.
Other Areas like Gbagi International Market in Egbeda LGA, Foworogun in OnaAra LGA and Olorunda in Lagelu LGA will be covered in the coming week.
Exciting times are here for the AfriWomen staff and the beneficiaries who are keen to start or further their learning.
Registration has commenced in earnest and resumptions are scheduled for the first week in April 2022.
