In a resounding celebration of knowledge and empowerment, the AfriWomen marked International Literacy Day (ILD) on September 8, 2023, embracing the theme ‘Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies’..
The Afriwomen conducted a women health empowerment .parenthood, menopause and pre -menopause to educate the women more about menopause and how to take care of there health and to eat healthy. Recognizing that health is wealth, AfriWomen’s commitment to women’s well-being aligns seamlessly with its mission to promote literacy. Healthy women are not only more capable of acquiring and utilizing literacy and numeracy skills but also serve as powerful catalysts for motivating others to do the same.
The Founder Mrs. Adebukola Oso expressed the significance of this day as an opportunity to unite representatives from their centers and collaborate with stakeholders in accelerating progress toward the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4), which focuses on education and lifelong learning. She emphasized that ILD serves as a vital occasion to reflect on the pivotal role of literacy in shaping more inclusive, peaceful, just, and sustainable societies. Mrs Oso underscored the intrinsic link between literacy and other aspects of development, particularly the health and well-being of women, which serves as a cornerstone for progress across all developmental domains. To amplify this connection, AfriWomen partnered with the Oyo State Ministry of Health and its agency, the Primary Health Care Board, to host an interactive seminar, shedding light on topics of “Parenthood, Pre-Menopause, and Menopause.”
