Advancing SDG Goals Through Community Empowerment
Ibadan, Nigeria – July 23, 2025
As part of its ongoing commitment to social development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), AfriWomen successfully fed and supported over 150 children in the Kobomoje area of Ibadan South East Local Government Area. This initiative marks another milestone in the organization’s mission to empower women, uplift communities, and tackle poverty through inclusive and sustainable development.
In a heartwarming gathering filled with joy, laughter, and unity, AfriWomen provided nutritious meals and educational support to children, many of whom come from underserved backgrounds. The outreach aligns directly with several United Nations SDGs, particularly:
Goal 1: No Poverty
Goal 2: Zero Hunger
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being
Goal 4: Quality Education
Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities
Speaking at the event, AfriWomen CEO Adebukola Oso, emphasized the importance of addressing poverty and educational deprivation in vulnerable communities,
Also stated that At Afriwomen, we believe that no child should go to bed hungry or lack access to basic opportunities. Feeding over 150 children today is not just a one-off act of charity, it is part of a long-term commitment to reshaping futures and building resilient communities, starting with the most vulnerable.”
The outreach was held in front of Al-Yaqeen School, with volunteers, community leaders, and local educators in attendance. Activities included meal distribution, motivational talks, and the provision of school supplies to inspire continued learning.
AfriWomen is calling on more stakeholders—government agencies, NGOs, corporate bodies, and individuals—to join hands in ensuring that development reaches every corner of Nigeria, especially at the grassroots level.
