AfriWomen recently paid a courtesy visit to the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) to explore available financial services and support systems for smallholder farmers across Nigeria. The purpose of the visit was to initiate discussions on how farmers within AfriWomen’s network especially women and youth can access agricultural loans and credit facilities. The meeting also focused on aligning both institutions’ efforts towards improving productivity, resilience, and sustainability in Nigeria’s farming sector.
Key areas discussed during the visit included funding opportunities for livestock and crop production, mechanisms to ease access to credit for first-time agripreneurs, and strategies for enhancing financial inclusion to drive rural economic development. BOA’s South-West Zonal Manager, Mr Ajala, shared insights into the bank’s current loan and credit products, repayment structures, and eligibility criteria.

This strategic engagement reinforces what AfriWomen already represents: a powerful and impactful force in agribusiness development. AfriWomen is well positioned to partner with BOA to ensure that its beneficiaries-women and youth smallholder farmers gain access to tailored financial solutions that meet their needs.
This collaboration forms part of AfriWomen’s broader strategy to build partnerships that empower rural farmers, particularly women and youth, to grow viable agribusinesses, improve household income, and contribute meaningfully to national food security and sustainable development.
