In a bid to promote and further the course of mass literacy and numeracy especially among adult women and men in Nigeria, the AfriWomen Entrepreneurship Initiative, a pan-African Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) situated in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday joined the state Adult and Non-Formal Education Agency (AANFE) in its literacy campaigns to the Bodija market situated in the state capital.
According to AANFE, the market campaign was informed by the need to raise the current low level of literacy especially among adult women who dominate the market and its environs in the state.
Being among the leading NGOs that offer free adult literacy classes to women of all races and languages in the state, AfriWomen saw the need to join the state agency so as to have more reach and engagements with the women who buy and sell in the markets.
During the outreach on Tuesday afternoon, AfriWomen staff members participated in sharing flyers and having individual engagements with each of the women which went a long way in solidifying their interest in adult education.
At AfriWomen, we believe that every adult woman has a right to qualitative education with which she can be more relevant economically and politically. Join us to empower the African women for greatness!!!
